Glass History 

 PPG Works No. 26 Crestline, Ohio   1960

PPG Industries’ Crestline, Ohio, glass fabricating plant began operation in 1959 as "the most modern, technically advanced glass fabricating facility in the industry."

    The factory had 275,000 square feet of working area, with room for expansion. Initially the plant had been set up for nine lines for production of flat tempered glass and three lines for production of bent glass.

    In addition to tempering PENNVERNON Sheet Glass, Crestline also tempers plate glass from Works No. 4 at Ford City, Pa.,  and Works No. 7 at Cumberland, Maryland.

    The multi - million dollar plant incorporated technological improvements in methods and equipment. According to PPG statements it proved that the company is "modern in its thinking, and that it is in business to win the competition for markets"

    Besides having ample loading docks to handle incoming glass and outgoing tempered glass, the factory was located on a railroad siding.
