If I recall, you should not plan on re-using
the molding, get a new one. On most windshields we trim the excess vinyl
interlayer from the edge of the glass, but in this case it may be a good idea to
leave an excess as the interlayer excess can be a nice buffer between the edge
of the glass and the metal molding. Good luck, with today's HV urethanes the job
should not be too bad. Illinois
Take
the rubber molding off the metal and start from the middle bottom of w\s and
then grab with pliers and pull molding off glass and then cut out with cold
knife...get new molding...We use chrome flexi trim sometimes on cash customers;
they cant afford the o.e.m molding...and the aftermarket stuff sucks

Get a new molding, and an o.e.m.
is preferable. Pull the metal molding off the car if possible... if you can cold
knife beneath the metal teeth, that's the best, but sometimes that's impossible.
An equalizer works quite well for these, but you'll probably burn through a
blade nicking it against the metal. Otherwise it's a messy battle...fight to the
death.

Did one of these about
a year ago and ended up going back three times for stress cracks because of the
precision molding. Finally used flex trim with the chrome strip. Worked well and
customer liked it better then OE molding. Rich
