Pilkington & Visteon to form New Glass Company

Pilkington Plc and Visteon are negotiating a deal that would have the world's top Autoglass producer manage the majority stake in Visteon's glass business. Although the joint venture is months away, plans call for the new company to become Ford's main glass supplier.

In a letter to customers, Visteon indicates that they have signed a letter of intent with Pilkington, to "explore the opportunities" for a joint venture. They expect it will take a few months to conclude the negotiations, from which Visteon sees "exciting synergies" between the two companies in the area of technology, product availability, and operating efficiencies.
