State Farm Clarifies O & A Issues

Memo addresses gifts to agents, late billing, contacting agents first, and windshield repair criteria. The following letter was sent to O & A participants along with the latest offer.

Memorandum
To:  Offer and Acceptance Program Participants
From: David W. Williams, National Glass Manager
Date: June 16, 2000
Re: Clarification of Issues

Gifts and Gratuities:

Our philosophy is that gifts or gratuities to State Farm Agents or employers unnecessarily inflate glass claim costs. At no time should an Offer and Acceptance participant provide gifts and gratuities of any type to agents and/or employees of State Farm Insurance Companies. Either party can terminate the agreement in writing at any time and we will terminate the Offer and Acceptance Agreement of shops that offer gifts and gratuities to State Farm employees and/or agents.

Invoicing after 90 Days:

Please refer to Section 'L' of your State Farm's offer and Acceptance Agreement. The contract you signed indicates that you will "submit all bills to LYNX Services within ninety (90) days of the date work is completed or forfeit entire payment ". Keep this section of the contract in mind for any future glass claims you may have with State Farm.

Agents - First Contact:

When a State Farm insured vehicle sustains glass damage and the insured intends to make a claim under their policy, the insured is required to report the loss to their agent or to the company, As a glass facility participating in our Glass Central Program, we expect you to have the policyholder contact their agent prior to any work being completed.

New Repair Criteria: The new Glass Repair Criteria for bulls-eye, half-moon. Star, and combination breaks is as follows:

  • If the damage fits into an area three and one-half inches in diameter, or it fits under a drivers license and;
  • The damage is not in the critical area (9.5 x 11 inch area directly in front of the driver's vision) and;
  • The repair is agreeable to the policyholders then;
  • The repair is billable as outlined in your Offer and Acceptance Agreement.
  • Our "Crack Repair Criteria" will remain at six inches.

If you have any questions regarding this document, please contact the Glass Central Unit at 309-766-6000, Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm Central Time.
