| "Motorists Insurance Ends Glass Network Program" The Motorists Insurance Companies release the following statement July 15, 1998:
Re: Glass Network Program Motorists Insurance Companies has made the decision to end its Glass Network Program. The last three years have seen a decline in participation by the agency force while the cost to administer the program has increased. Financially, the claims run through the Network cost more money than non-Network glass claims, and the difference is rising. A recent survey of 178 agents indicated that 162 agents, or 91 percent, did not care if the Glass Network Program was discontinued. More than 100 of those agents cited better service with local glass vendors as the main reason. In addition, the monthly billings received by the national glass companies has a 40.5 percent error ratio. Claims were reported with the wrong policy number, wrong vehicle, wrong date of loss and duplication of reported losses. Therefore, the Glass Network will end effective August 1, 1998. Please contact your local claims branch office if you have any questions. Thank you to all the agencies that participated in the survey. Motorists Insurance Companies |
