LYNX Services From PPG to Open Kentucky Center

PADUCAH, Ky., /PRNewswire/ -- LYNX Services from PPG, a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG), will build a 35,000-square- foot insurance claims service center in Paducah's Information Age Park that will employ about 300 people within two years.

General Manager James V. Latch said construction will be finished in August 1999, with employment reaching 150 by year-end.

LYNX Services, formed in 1994, is the industry leader in processing automotive replacement glass claims and first-notice-of-loss for insurance and fleet companies. It employs 600 people and has service centers in Fort Meyers, Fla., and Overland Park, Kan.

"Cooperation of the Greater Paducah Economic Development Council has been outstanding, as it has been from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority. Their approval of Jobs Development Act participation is much appreciated," Latch said.

The Paducah center will process first-notice-of-loss, verify coverage, schedule glass repairs, process parts orders, perform audits and manage warranty claims.

PPG Industries, founded in 1883, is a leading producer of coatings, flat glass, fiber glass and chemicals, with manufacturing operations in 21 countries. Its 1997 global sales were $7.4 billion. The company's plants in Kentucky make replacement automotive windshields at Berea and architectural coatings at two Louisville locations.
