Discount Auto Glass Featured in Stories Exclusive NorthStar Distributor Started as Local Retail Store Discount Auto Glass, located in Wichita, Kansas, is owned by Garry Dunnegan, Sr. He runs the company with son Gary Jr. and brother Gerald. Starting from one local retail store in 1995, it has grown to a 28-state operation that distributes windshields and tempered glass through nine regional, independently-owned warehouses. Discount typically sells to dismantlers, glass shops, body shops and rebuilders. It specializes in distributing and wholesaling to rural areas, especially in the Midwest. The company, through its retail, wholesale and distribution businesses, sells glass from a variety of manufacturers and has an exclusive deal with NorthStar. Retail or wholesale? Or both? It's a question many business executives, including Garry Dunnegan of Discount Auto Glass, have to face when charting their course through the rocky straights of commerce. Several years ago, Dunnegan decided to extend the business into wholesale distribution to obtain more growth.
