Arch Aluminum Acquires  Closed Coolidge Glass Manufacturing Assets

Arch Milwaukee, Inc., will allow market expansion

The assets of the former Coolidge Glass, Inc. manufacturing divisions have been sold to Arch Aluminum & Glass Co., Inc. Under the name of It's affiliate, Arch Milwaukee, Inc., production is to resume shortly, out of the Wisconsin facility. Many former employees have been rehired.

The manufacturing assets became available from the bank when the sale of Coolidge to TCGI fell through in December 1999. (See related Glasslinks Story Dec 13). Coolidge Glass, operating since the early 1960's, fabricated insulated and tempered glass at the Wisconsin location. According to  president Leon Silverstein, Arch had been looking for a facility in the Wisconsin and surrounding market.

The distribution assets of Coolidge Glass had been previously sold in January by the bank, to Auto Stock, shortly after Coolidge closed it's doors. Auto Stock, the wholesale arm of TCG,  reopened eight of the former warehouses in late January of this year. (See related Glasslinks Story January 19)
