Chubb Enhances Automotive Glass Claim Service

WARREN, N.J., December 16, 1998 -- The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has streamlined its auto glass claim process by selecting Safelite Glass Corp. as its primary provider of glass repair or replacement services for its customers. Claimants may report a loss, get insurance policy verification and schedule repairs with just one toll-free phone call.

Customers with automobile glass damage may now call Chubb's Claim Service Center at 1-800-CLAIMS O (252-4670), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As part of the loss notification, customers can be directly connected to Safelite's professionally trained glass customer service representatives. During the initial notice of loss phone call, customer service representatives will schedule repair or replacement services with either a Safelite facility or another the customer chooses.

"Safelite has leading-edge technological capabilities and its service standards are of the high caliber our customers expect, so we are delighted to add this service to our claim management arsenal," said Bill Crowley, vice president for Chubb & Son and responsible for automobile claims worldwide. "This initiative is one more example of an ongoing series of enhancements to our claim services designed to provide our customers with fast, efficient and cost-effective response," he continued. "While we always provide our customers with the choice of repair shop, many customers don't know of a glass repair shop, and we're happy to provide this service."

As always, agents or brokers may report glass losses on behalf of their clients, but customers are encouraged to contact the Claim Service Center directly due to the repair scheduling capability. Agents and brokers will receive notification from Chubb that the claim is in process if the loss is reported by the customer.

Member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 5,000 independent agents and brokers. Chubb's global network includes branches and affiliates throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia.
