Tamglass to Establish Production Unit in China

    Tamglass Ltd. Oy, a Kyro Group company, will expand its operations in China by establishing a manufacturing unit for safety glass machines. The company has over 100 safety glass production line and machine deliveries to the Chinese market. Following the establishment of the production plant, located in Tianjin area, Tamglass will have machine production on four continents.

    The demand of tempered glass is rapidly increasing in China due to the development of safety glass regulations, building design and growing economy, which also boosts the demand of production machinery. With the local production plant Tamglass strengthens its position as a market and technology leader in the Chinese market.

    Strengthening Tamglass presence in China is a significant part of Tamglass strategy to expand the regional production and after sales network in the main market areas. China as a large country represents a significant market for safety glass machines. Local manufacturing facilitates a cost effectiveness and a possibility to offer products in the local currency, says Tamglass President and CEO Pentti Yliheljo.

    The new production plant will manufacture flat tempering machines for the glass manufacturers in Chinese construction industry. The company will also be in charge for installations and after sales services in China. First deliveries from the new plant are scheduled for autumn 2001.
