ATTENTION: CARS INSTALLERS AND WHOLESALERS

IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION!!!

Many of you have called inquiring about when you can expect to be paid for work that was done during the month of November. We have been working hard to test our payment process for accuracy. Testing has been completed, and for work done in November, you can expect to begin receiving payment in the next two weeks. Remember, it is imperative that you fax us the signed work order ASAP after you complete a job. Receipt of your signed work order is what generates payment. If we do not receive a signed work order, we have no way of knowing that the job has been completed. If you have work orders that you have not sent back yet, please fax them back immediately to 800-927-7979. The following is a list of other commonly asked questions.

Q.1. I am an integrated installed wholesaler and I don't have the required part. Will another local wholesaler supply the part?

A. Yes. If the local wholesaler is participating in the CARS program and they have the required part. If there is no participating CARS wholesaler that can deliver locally, then the following would occur depending on part type:

If the required part is a windshield, the installer may procure the Carlite part from the CARS wholesaler of his choice and CARS will pay 23% on NAGS for the part in addition to the $125 installation fee OR if the Carlite part is not locally available from any of the installer's suppliers, the installer should contact the CARS call center (877-367-3452) as soon as possible and let them know the part is not available. They will check to see if the part is on back order or if it is available from a wholesaler in a different part of the country. If the latter, the part will be shipped to the installer or the dealer, whichever is agreed upon by dealer and installer.

If a tempered part is not available from a local participating CARS wholesaler, but the installer either has the Carlite part or can get it from another, non-CARS participating wholesaler, then CARS will pay 27% on NAGS for the part. If the installer's cost for the part is higher than this or it is determined that the Carlite part is not available from anyone locally, then the part will be shipped via Fed Ex overnight to the dealer or installer, whichever is agreed upon by both parties (dealer and installer).

Q.2. As an installer, why can't I obtain my parts from PPG or LOF.

A. Currently, neither PPG nor LOF have elected to participate in the CARS program. If at some point, either or both do decide to participate, then you will be able to specify them as your wholesaler of choice (whichever is participating). Until then, the only way that you would be able to get your parts from PPG or LOF under the CARS program is if the part is not readily available from a local CARS wholesaler. CARS will then pay you 23% on NAGS list for a windshield or 27% on NAGS for a tempered part.

Q.3. Will I as an installer have any say in which CARS wholesaler I can get my parts from?

A. Yes, if there is more than one CARS participating wholesalers in your area. You will be asked which wholesaler you want to use. If the supplier you have chosen is a participating CARS wholesaler, they will be called first for part availability. As stated above, if the wholesaler does not have the part, CARS will check to see if another local CARS wholesaler has it. If not see answers to Questions 1 & 2.

Q.4. Who's responsible for the part if it should break either before or during installation?

A. If the part is delivered in good condition to the installer, the installer is responsible for that part through installation of the part. If the part is delivered to a dealer, the dealer is responsible for any damage to the part up until the installer begins handling the part. From that point on, the responsibility lies with the installer. Broken or otherwise damaged parts must be replaced at the responsible party's expense. CARS realizes this is a concern to those participating in the program, but from comments received from several installers, the incidence of breakage is relatively rare.

Q.5. Can I use glass out of my own stock?

A. You may use Carlite glass out of your own stock to expedite installation timing, but if you are within the delivery area of a participating CARS wholesaler, and the wholesaler has the part in stock, a part will be delivered to you to replace the part you used. If the required part is a windshield and there is no local CARS wholesaler or if the part is not available from a CARS wholesaler, then we will offer to buy the part from you (Q1. and Q2. Answers).
