Safelite Strikes Deal with American Family InsuranceAmerican Family Insurance has named Columbus-based Safelite Glass Corp. as its auto glass program administrator. Under the agreement, American Family policyholders who call the insurer or its agents will be transferred to Safelite, where a customer service representative will take the first notice of loss, confirm coverage and assist in scheduling service at a Safelite or other auto glass repair shop. By August, Safelite will handle claims in American Family's 14-state territory. The insurer, the nation's fourth largest, handles about 200,000 vehicle glass claims a year.
