The auto glass industry lost one of its' true legends with the passing of Al Girard on April 4, 2001.

Known as "Captain Carlite", Al Girard was a pioneer for the Glass Division of Ford Motor Company, including the start up of the Carlite Technicians School in 1991.

Al retired in 1995 as the Technical Service Manager of Carlite, after 23 years with Ford. His first 23 years in the glass industry was spent with Shatterproof.

Known for his constant dedication to educate and improve the auto glass industry, Al was a featured speaker and taught many seminars throughout the country.
